Of all the many eminent men and women in the history of the area today known as Camden, few have been as closely associated with the locality as the great Irish writer, George Bernard Shaw. In his long life, Shaw’s prodigious literary output included over sixty plays, among them themasterpieces Pygmalion, Man and Superman and Saint Joan, and in 1925 he was awarded theNobel Prize for Literature. Tudor Allen, Archivist at Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre,
explores Shaw’s many links with the borough.
